What kind of inflatable rafting do you need? The answer to that may depend on what you need it for and where you are going. Obviously you need a different raft if you are going to a swimming pool than you would if you were going to a lake or a river. And you will need different sizes for the people that will be using them. There are some things you need to consider when you are choosing your raft so that you enjoy your outdoor fun safely.
Floating on a lake or river is a great way to spend a summer day, but it can mean that the raft that you are on can be exposed to rocks, tree limbs and roots and other hazards that can puncture or tear it. The more dangers the raft might encounter, the thicker it will need to be. For safety, you should have a raft that has several chambers that will allow it to stay at least partially inflated instead of just going immediately flat if it is punctured. You should also carry a puncture repair kit with you, but keep in mind that not all damages can actually be patched effectively. These types of rafts are usually fairly big, and they may require an electric or hand/foot pump to blow up.
On the other hand, floating on a pool in your backyard means that you can go with the less expensive, thinner plastic rafts that only take a few minutes to blow up by mouth. Of course, there are some deluxe models of these rafts that might include cup holders or pillows so that you can lounge in utter comfort, a cold drink at the ready. The size of these rafts might range from the thin, long and narrow ones that come in bright, summery colors to the double sized ones that will allow two adults to lounge side by side. Because you don’t have to worry about stones or other dangers for these rafts, they are typically designed to be more fun than functional.
A final type of raft that you might consider is meant to be an emergency safety device on a boat. This is the kind that inflates automatically when you pull a cord. They fold back down to a fairly compact package and are stowed on the boat, pulled out only in the event of an emergency. These are often thick enough to withstand some of the obstacles of the waters they are on and are yellow in color so that they can be more easily spotted if a rescue were needed.
No matter where you are going or what you are doing, you can find the right kind of inflatable rafting for you.
